There was once a Wonderful Garden.

In it were potted plants that bloomed colorful flowers and grew the tastiest of fruits and meats.
Little critters danced and frolicked, like buzzy flies, crawling spiders, and pretty moths!
Up above, shining its bright light, was a giant eye that hovered high in the sky.

In this place, dancing along the lively creatures, was the cutest, most loveable princess, Little Ima.
She wore a tall crown, the most elegant moth wing dress, and had the most beautiful, locks of hair.
Little Ima and her friends were happy because they all lived in the Wonderful Garden.

There was no pain in the garden. No hunger, nor thirst.
Everything in here was pure joy and harmony!

Even if she got bored of dancing, there was still so much to do! Like riding the shoo-shoo.
playing catch the critters, or color the walls. Everything in this Wonderful Garden was perfect…

But, Little Ima wasn’t satisfied.

Even though she had everything she could ever want. She really wished to see what was behind a
certain Door. In the far corner of the garden was a tall and frightening Door. The Door had always
been part of the Wonderful Garden, but she never knew what it was for.

She was curious about where it led, but she was far too small to reach its handle. Sometimes,
she would ask her critter friends to help her open the Door. But every time she pleaded,
they would always say the same thing.

“Don’t open the Door! It’s not safe!” They warned her.
“Just ignore it, and keep playing with us!”
And like always, Little Ima got upset by this answer. She would throw a tantrum by falling down on
the floor, kicking and screaming, hoping she would get what she wanted. But her critter friends didn’t
care how much noise she made, they would not dare open the Door.

Usually, after her cute little tantrums, she would fall asleep from exhaustion.
Only to wake up the next day, wanting to open the Door again.

One day, as she was dancing like always, A new critter crawled out from a hole. Curious, Little Ima
went to say hello to her new friend. He was certainly different from the other. He had big pincers on
his mouth, and long, twirling antenna on his head. His body was stretched, out, and he had more feet
than all her spider friends could ever have.
“What are you, not-so-little critter?” The princess asked.

“Oh, I am a Centipede!” He said in glee.
Little Ima asked the Centipede where he came from, and he told her he came from Outside.
The princess was confused, and she asked what he meant by “Outside”.
He pointed with his flexible antenna and said it was what was behind the door.

“You’ve been behind the door?” Her eyes widened.

“What’s it like!? What’s it like!?”

He said it was a place of pretty spaces, creatures she’s never seen or heard, and so many things that
he could hardly describe. Excited, she asked him to take her there...but just like her other friends,
he said she shouldn’t even bother. The Outside is no place for a little princess like her.

Mad, the princess had another tantrum, this time, louder than before.

“Why can’t I go Outside!?” She shrieked.
“I’m bigger than all of you, so why can’t I go Outside!?”

“Calm down, Calm down.” He shooshed.
“If you really want to go outside, I could help you.”

The princess became quiet and listened closely to the Centipede.
If she wanted to go outside, she would have to do as he says.

First, he asked for her crown, which she gave without a second thought.

Next, he asked for her to her dress. She was a bit confused but did as she was told.

Then, he asked for her hair. She didn’t really see why he would need it,
but she didn’t see why she should worry.

“But, I don’t have anything to cut it?” She murmured.

The centipede tossed a knife near her feet. With a pout, she snipped and sliced off every strand that
she could. A bundle of her once gorgeous hair laid on the ground.

“Now can we go outside?” The princess scorned.

“Not yet.” The centipede teased.

Little Ima was getting impatient, what else could this greedy Centipede want?

“You’re still too small to open the door.” He said.
“But, I can help you get taller.”

The centipede told her to lay down on the floor, with her legs and arms spread out.
Using his strong pincers, he grabbed her wrists, and pulled and pulled, until her arm stretched out.
He did the same for her other arm and legs. Her once short limbs were now long, stringy and thin.

When he was done, he told the girl to stand. Little Ima hard a hard time moving her new arms and legs,
but when she was able to stand, she was almost as tall the door.

“Wow! I can touch the sky” The princess shouted in awe.

“There’s no time for that.” The centipede said.

“If you want to go Outside, you must do it now!”

Little Ima took his advice and wobbled over to the Door with her long legs. As she did, her critter friends
looked over, staring in horror at the hideous beast walking over them. They shouted and screamed,
scattering about, making sure the large thing wouldn’t squish them.

Of course, Little Ima didn’t care, because she was so close to the door. She lifted one of her long arms and
touched the handle. It was hard to turn with her noodle-like arm, but she didn’t give up.
The princess used whatever strength she had left to finally opened the Door.

She was so excited to pass through to the other side. To see new places, creatures, and the many other things
she had never seen. As she swung one leg after the other, all she saw darkness.
So she kept walking and walking...and all she saw was more darkness.

Something wasn’t right, the princess thought. Where are the place, the creatures, and things?
Little Ima was scared. No matter where she looked, all she saw was a deep, black, darkness.

She tried to turn back, to return to her Wonderful Garden. Her friends were right, there was nothing for her
behind that Door. But she slipped on her legs and fell down to the floor.
In a panic, she tried to get back up, but her noodle limbs were too heavy and tangled.

Little Ima was so close to home. She could see the light of her Garden right there. All she had to do was crawl
back to be happy and merry again. But as she got closer, the door slammed shut.

“Where’s the Princess?” asked a critter.

“I’m here! I’m here!” Said the Centipede, dressed up as the princess.
“Let’s dance and be Merry!”

And so, the critters danced and danced in their Wonderful Garden.
